Hello!  My name is Shirlyn Bowden.  I am currently a Second Grade Reading. L.A. and S.S. teacher at Bond.  I have been an educator since 1994, specializing in Dyslexia and Remedial Reading for the past eleven years.  In the past I have also taught first grade, fourth grade and second grade.  This year I have decided to return to teaching regular education in second grade.  This was a difficult decision to make after teaching DRD and Reading Intervention but feel I will be able to apply my remediation skills and knowledge to better support my struggling secondary students.  I will also be able to once again learn what it is like to challenge my regular education students which will better my teaching skills all together.  In this position I will now be able to enrich teaching with art, special projects and other substantial activities that I was not able to do when teaching remedial specialized instruction.  That is what I am most excited about and I hope my second grade students will be just as excited about once they see what I have in store.  I am looking so forward to this upcoming year!

CHANGE AND GROWTH, IS ALWAYS A GOOD THING!!!!
